Volunteer Opportunities

Book Librarian:  This person maintains the group library , helps members check-out and return books & keeps the library records, sends a reminder to return books and contacts members when books are not returned, and advises leaders when books are out-of-date or no longer on the approved API Bibliography or when appropriate new books would be desirable in the library.

Assistant Book Librarian: this person would assist the current book librarian at meetings by helping arrange the books before the meeting and clean up the books after the meeting.  Duties would also include assisting members to select books and recording check outs.

Sling Librarian: this person keeps one section of the sling library, transporting it to and from meetings, sets up slings at meeting, assists members with trying on and checking out slings, and pack slings up at end of meeting. You will send reminders to people to return slings, notify leader if slings have not been returned on time, maintain the binder for your sections, recommend acquisitions to chapter, and monitor the condition of the slings in your section.

Co-Leader Applicants: are in agreement with Attachment Parenting philosophy, agree to abide by API’s group guidelines (see Applicant packet), will have practiced Attachment Parenting for at least one year, participate with other leaders in the administration and management of the chapter, participate online in leader conversations via South API Volunteers Yahoo! group, ideally will attend periodic south and all-Austin Leader Meetings, are enthusiastic about AP and interested in supporting members and other parents who contact you about it, and commit to lead or attend monthly meetings as needed.

You will be joining a great group of individuals, and helping to support a cause near and dear to all of us. Our chapter currently has 25-30 parents attending monthly meetings, including many wonderful, committed individuals who have volunteered for treasurer and the various lending libraries (sling, book and cloth diaper).
